Aromatherapy : Treating Diseases - Arthritis
Aromatherapy treatments for arthritis vary widely. They will attempt to relieve pain by strengthening the body's ability to heal itself. Essential oils used for arthritis may include:
Benzoin (styrax benzoin)
Chamomile (matricaria chamomilla)
Camphor (cinnamomum camphora)
Cypress (cupressus sempervirens)
Eucalyptus
Ginger
Juniper (juniperus communis)
Lavender (lavandula officinalis)
Hyssop (hyssopus officinalis)
Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis)
Aromatherapy Combinations:
Massage the whole body with the following extracts in vegetable oil base, once daily before color therapy: camomile 8%, cypress 4%, hyssop 4%, pine 4%, eucalyptus 4%.
Arthritis Aromatherapy Formula
Add six drops each of rosemary and chamomile essential oils to four ounces of a carrier oil such as almond, avocado, soybean or sesame. When arthritis acts up, massage this oil into sore joints.
For extra relief, add ten drops each of rosemary and chamomile to a warm bath and soak for ten minutes.
Application
Application may be by:
Inhale the vapors from the oils as they rise from a bowl of water
Mix the oil(s) in a base oil and use in massage
Wear as a perfume
Mix with the bath water
