Methi toovar dal is a filling dish cooked with fenugreek leaves (methi) and toovar dal. It is a traditional Indian dish served as a main course or as a side dish with rice or roti. Is high in plant protein, fiber, minerals like potassium and iron.

Ingredients
1 cup of fenugreek leaves (Methi), chopped
½ teaspoon of turmeric powder (Haldi)
½ cup of onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon of ginger (Adarak), finely chopped
2 teaspoon of garlic (Lehsun), finely chopped
½ cup of tomatoes, finely chopped
2 teaspoon of oil
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (Jeera)
1-2 of green chillies, chopped
½ teaspoon of garam masala
Salt to taste
1 cup of toovar dal (Arhar)
Procedure
Take 1½ cup water in a pressure cooker.
Add dal, salt, turmeric powder (haldi) in it, and mix well.
Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add cumin seeds (jeera).
When the seeds start crackling, add in garlic (lehsun), ginger (Adarak), green chilli, and cook for a minute on a medium flame.
Then add onions, cook for 2 minutes.
Add tomatoes, garam masala, 2 tablespoons of water and cook with continuous stirring for 2 minutes.
Then add in fenugreek (methi) and mix well.
Pour in dal and mix well.
Cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes.
